Combining documents is easiest when you decide the reading order first. A cover sheet, the main document and the supporting pages usually make more sense than the order the files happened to download in. You can do the assembly in your browser and keep the originals.
Start with the source files
Collect the PDFs you need and give them names you can recognize. Keep a copy of the originals, especially if they contain signatures, bookmarks, attachments or interactive forms. Our merger copies visible pages; it does not preserve all document-level features or valid digital signatures. Use flattened exports for completed forms.
Combine the documents
- Open Merge PDF and choose at least two documents.
- Check the name and page count beside each file.
- Use the up and down arrows to set the reading order.
- Choose Merge PDFs and wait for the result.
- Download the new document and open it in your usual PDF viewer.
All pages from the first file appear first, followed by all pages from the second, and so on. The result can contain mixed page sizes and orientations because source page dimensions are kept.
Need only a few pages?
Use Split & Extract PDF before merging. Enter a selection such as 1-3, 5 to keep pages 1, 2, 3 and 5 in one file. The selection 5, 1-2 places page 5 first. Repeated page numbers are included once. This gives you a way to reorder a single document as well as remove pages you do not need.
Starting with photos or scans instead?
Use Images to PDF. Put the photos in order, choose A4, Letter or image-sized pages, and generate one document. A4 and Letter preserve image proportions and add a small margin. Fit each image uses the shape of that image. The tool creates picture-based pages, without optical character recognition: photographed text does not become selectable text.
Check the finished document
- Does the first page introduce the document clearly?
- Are every expected page and attachment present?
- Are landscape pages and scans easy to read?
- Does the download fit the receiving site’s file-size limit?
The merger does not compress PDF content, so combining files usually creates a larger document than either source alone. Reduce the size of source photos before building an image PDF if the result needs to be smaller.
Limits and privacy
The tools accept up to 25 MB per file. Merge accepts up to 20 files, 100 MB combined and 500 source pages. Extract accepts one PDF up to 500 pages. Encrypted and damaged PDFs are rejected. Processing happens locally and can use substantial browser memory; a computer may work better for large documents. Download the result before closing the tab because it is not stored in an account.
