• The code and data you paste into our tools are processed only in your browser. They are never sent to, stored on or logged by our servers.
• We use Google Analytics to understand how the site is used and Google AdSense to show ads. Both may use cookies.

Who we are

CodeBeautify.dev (“the site”, “we”, “us”) is operated by Softaware Commerce Ltd, which is the data controller for the limited personal data described in this policy. You can reach us through the contact page.

Content you enter into the tools

Every formatter, converter, encoder and generator on this site runs as JavaScript on your own device. JSON, XML, source code, SQL, tokens, images and any other input you provide are processed in your browser’s memory and discarded when you close or reload the page. We have no technical means of seeing that content. The site does not store tool input in cookies, local storage or any other browser storage.

The optional URL button on some tools fetches a file directly from the address you enter, using your browser. That request goes from your device to the site you chose; it does not pass through our servers.

Information collected automatically

Server logs

Like almost every website, our hosting infrastructure records standard request information — IP address, date and time, requested URL, referrer and browser user agent — for security, abuse prevention and troubleshooting. These logs are kept for a limited period and are not combined with other data to identify you.

Google Analytics

We use Google Analytics 4 to measure which pages are visited, how visitors arrive at the site and which features are used, so that we can improve the tools. Google Analytics uses cookies and collects information such as pages viewed, approximate location derived from your IP address, device type and browser. It does not receive the content you enter into the tools. Tool-use events include only an action name and tool identifier, never filenames, file contents, text or entered values. Google AdSense advertising

The site is funded by ads served by Google AdSense. Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on your previous visits to this and other websites. Google’s use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visits to this site and/or other sites on the Internet.

You may opt out of personalised advertising by visiting Google Ads Settings, or opt out of some third-party vendors’ use of cookies for personalised advertising at www.aboutads.info. If you opt out, you will still see ads, but they will be less relevant to you.

Cookies and consent

The site itself does not set cookies. It uses browser local storage for saved tool addresses, up to five recently opened tool addresses, and the time a “bookmark this tool” tip was shown. These values stay on your device; file contents, text, dates and other tool inputs are never included. You can remove a saved tool with its star, clear the recent list on the home page, or clear the site’s browser storage. If storage is blocked, the tools still work, but saving shortcuts may be unavailable. The cookies you may see come from Google Analytics and Google AdSense as described above. If you visit from the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom or Switzerland, analytics and advertising storage is disabled by default and only enabled after you give consent through the consent message shown on your first visit. You can change your choice at any time via the privacy settings link in that message, or by clearing the site’s cookies in your browser.

Third-party libraries

Some tools load open-source libraries such as Prettier, js-yaml, sql-formatter, Terser, marked, Turndown and qrcode from the public jsDelivr CDN. Your browser downloads these files directly from jsDelivr, which therefore receives a standard web request (including your IP address). The libraries run locally once loaded and do not transmit the content you format. The PDF tools use a locally hosted copy of the open-source pdf-lib library.

Legal bases and your rights

Where the GDPR or UK GDPR applies, we process server log data on the basis of our legitimate interest in running a secure website, and analytics and advertising cookies on the basis of your consent. You have the right to access, correct or delete personal data we hold about you, to object to or restrict its processing, to withdraw consent at any time, and to complain to your local data protection authority. California residents may request information about, and deletion of, their personal information; we do not sell or share personal information for cross-context behavioural advertising outside the Google services described above.

Because we do not run accounts and never receive tool input, the personal data we hold is generally limited to server logs. To exercise any of these rights, please get in touch through the contact page.

Children’s privacy

The site is intended for a general and professional audience and is not directed at children under 13 (or under 16 in the EEA). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy to reflect changes to the site, our practices or the law. The “Last updated” date at the top of this page shows when it was last revised.
